Earlier today
I shared two collages of

from March 8th & 10th.
These collages show skies from
seven days ago.

when March winds blew through.
Notice Palm frond positions
especially in

the second collage.
Those winds continue today
but are now ‘off-shore’

Santa Ana winds
rather than the usual
gentle on-shore breeze.

Mellow Yellow Monday #9

Rather than flowers
today’s Mellow Yellow is
filled with sights I’ve seen

walking around with
my Nikon D60 … a
mellow potpourri.

This week’s theme is SPACE

California
can feel crowded often, but
living at the beach

provides regular
opportunity to walk
this uncrowded space

taking in these skies
ever changing views and hues …
quite remarkable.

Thoughts for Today
“I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.”  George Washington Carver

“I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright.”  Henry David Thoreau

“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play in your hair.”  Kahlil Gibran

Mellow Yellow Monday #7

Every May in the city of Huntington Beach is a fund raiser known as the Duckathon.  People purchase decorated ‘ducks’ that are gathered up and dropped into the ocean for a ‘race to the shore’ … winning donated prizes.  Here are photos I captured with my Casio Exilim in 2004.

Click either image to embiggen for better viewing.

Macro Monday #5
but I’ve lost count on Today’s Flowers.

unknown-yellowblossoms21

If anyone recognizes these blossoms, I’d appreciate knowing what they are.  All I know is they’re bulbs that come up each year in my yard dependably.  Addendum:  Thanks to Patty of Magpie’s Nest for identifying these blossoms as Freesia, and to Eaton Bennett of Silently Mine for confirming the identification.
